I thought your website mentioned the 19th as the date for the show at Modern School but was later chaqnged to the 21st...so me and a coupl eof friends land up there sunday night, all tanked up hoping for some good rock and guess what...NO FARKIN' CONCERT !!! then I find out it was on the 19th itself..... so for god's sake , next time let us know the right date..... been to 6 or seven parikrama concerts but next time I might just pass.

hello you! I have heard you twice, at Indore..and i think you are shaping up well.I think this is a really critical juncture for you know..your performances now will decide wether you move northwards or stagnate. Please give a lot of thought to your music. It is convenient to get carried away with the easy money and concerts after concerts lined up.Just a word of caution.I hope you take all this in a healthy light. take care and really wishing you well.and don't mind my a(no)nimosity! bye.

You guys have done a fantastic job.The entire feeling of "but it rained" is like satin blessing the human soul. The feel's an integration to one's mind and soul.Goin' great guns, keep the fire on and let the doom's day passby!Your amalgamation of solid electric sounds blend fantabolusly with the violin. I'm waiting for better stuff from PARIKRAMA.Your music is :"SEX ON TOAST"! Keep rockin'.I'd say the U guys are THE phenomenon after Guns N Roses And the rest.Hope to hear from u guys.

Hi,guys....just wanted to tell that "parikrama" has matured on song selection but something was lacking.maybe u guys have grown old,or may be it was the hall, but the charm was missing.Thought u guys would show up in the buzz, but i guess u guys r 2 big 2 watch a small band playing.Anyways it was nice watching u guys on stage after a long time.N just wanted to let u guys know u people are our biggest influence.....a little more energy on stage n you are "awesome". Awright, so u got urself another die hard Parikrama-head. Really, no crap...u guys can rock the balls of ne of these other so called "international" bands, u've eraly got it in you ...so pleeeeease get off ur butts and cut an album for cryin' out loud! Better still get a vcd of a medley of ur concerts recorded, that'll be awesome!! I attended ur concert at AIIMS (where Shambhu fell off stage...was he stoned?) n then again at Stephens, and had my fragile mind blown to lil peices..the pyros were cool and u guys exude passion...passion for life, passion for ROCK, try hitting the international circuit, dudes..u'll make it..thats what my faith in u shreiks..all the time... I truly respect u guys 4 not selling out and going hindi pop..like Euphoria n Alms for something or the other, inspite of the gr8 offers uv received...dont ever do that...be true to yourself n one day the world will be ur oyster.. I still remember when i recorded "but it rained" n "rythm n blues" frm the TV and used to listen to em over n over again....(i got the CD single recently frm the P school f music)..neway gtg..ROCK ON 4EVER 2GETHER !!!

Hey Guys ! Wake Up Man ! Why the f@$%k do u think that no indian band is good or that they have not made an impact ! f@$%k man there are good bands out there ! But hey this is india ! Rite ! Who the f@$%k cares abt rock music anyways ! If there are bands out there and talent out there ! Nobody cares man ! Nobody Cares? Why SHOULD anybody care or not care? Its dog eat dog and survival of the fittest and in the market place what sells is right for the market. Hard realities, but face it. To make the point...no one from outside the brotherhood of rockers is gonna come and swish a magic wand and get bands record deals and sweet gigs. I was part of the band scene in the late eighties, analyzed the situation and decided that the first thing that was needed was a communication medium that brought all these like minded people on one platform and Rock Street Journal was born. It was not some business tycoon who wanted to CARE about rockers, it was a rocker who decided to do something rather than sit and fart on someone elses expense. A decade later some kid who was into rock decided that a rock website and forum was needed and gigpad was born. Again, a rocker from amongst us...not anybody who found it neccessary to CARE for the rock scene. Vishal Dadlani of Pentagram decided to launch the festival of New Noize on his own steam and without sponsors. Another case in point. Bands still play to have fun or get a few gigs here and there ! They might end up giving a few blowjobs to some record executives who dont even know the ABCD of rock and end up releasing a few records ! Which, guys like us who are in a minority end up buying ! Man there had been bands like indus Creed,13 ad,millenium, agni ! Who tried ! But the pathetic state in which the whole music industry in india is, and the way it is handled by a few assholes makes u sick man ! and makes ppl like daler Mahendi and altaf raja rule the indian airwaves ! Cant help it man ! Dats the way it is and i dont see it improving cause i have been hearing so for a decade ! U hearing that Amit Saigal ????? You might have a problem with Daler Mehndi. I dont. He is doing his thing and he has been damn succesful at it. He never pretended he was a rocker did he? He is a Punjabi folk artist who has spawned a whole genre of music not just in India but world wide...bhangra pop is a huge Industry. It is supporting at least three punjabi music channels! So waht are you talking about man? I think the issue is that bands in India have not been able to cross over to even a section of the general junta, and Im not talking about the Daler crowd or the Govinda crowd...Im talking about English medium educated normal junta. Take a case in point. Largest selling Indian Rock album sold in the market (im not including GIR compilations because they are given free with the mag). Rock Machine second coming sold 20,000 copies in the whole country. Junoon, on the other hand, sold 2.80 lakh copies. Euphoria sells in excess of 80,000 to 1 lakh copies of its albums, Silk Routes album sold 80,000 copies...I think you are beginning to get the picture here? If you want to be a metal band in India, you have an audience potential of 200 to 300 people for your gigs. Your album might sell 500 copies with huge amount of personal promotion. expect to get less than 5000 for any gig you do if you get paid at all You want to be a rock band in the country singing in English...you have an audience potential of upto 3000 people on your own steam and around 5000 - 7000 if you are part of a large established festival. If you release an album, dont expect it sell more than 20,000 copies (if you are extremely lucky that is) otherwise agni....Wind Dance With Fire was well below 5000 copies in Sales. Ditto for Millenium. You can expect to get paid (when you are properly established) between 40,000 to 90,000 for a gig. This is the range in which bands like Parikrama, Moksha, Orange Street, Pentagram, Agni etc perform If you are a rock band singing in Hindi, you can expect non rocking crowds in the region of 3000 to 20,000 for your gigs. Your album can have the potential to sell one million copies or more. You can expect to be paid a minimum of 1.50 lacs for a college gig (euphorias rate) and 3 lacs for a corporate gig. In the end, its upto the band what they want to do and how they want to do it. Its all cool in my book. Just please dont be ignorant and dont stop thinking about what you are doing and why you are doing it. If you are doing it for the love of music, thats cool man....then dont expect to make a million bucks sitting in India. Rationalise and choose career options where you can continue to do what you love and yet earn a living. If you wanna do this for a living, then focus on the areas where you are going to get the bread in from. Its as simple as that. But man, its a personal grouse, but I just cant stand cribbers. Im not pointing at you dude (JITS). Just making a general statement. Just figure out what your scene in life is, where you wanna go with your music and have fun man. No point trying to screw a dead tree is there?

WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!! Watta show guys!!!last night at AIIMS was my 40th Parikrama Concert (Waitin for the half century ;). Got to see Parikrama live after more than an years gap, just had to take an off from the office last night and come for the show....Parikrama was sheer magic on-stage...Too damn tight, infact...tighter than a virgin! Nitin totally eats up all the other vocalist's on stage...he's undoubtadly the best there is in the business.Last nights show just proved y u guys r considered to be The Best in the circuit, seen a lot of currently hot bands during the last year and a half BUT u guys still top my list. And to all those freaks who think Parikrama aint all that good....try to stick around for more than 10 yrs in India in a rock band and command the crowd the way Parikrama does! Thx a lot guys for making my 40th Parikrama show so awesome...the first thing i noticed in the morning was that sweet pain in my neck that i used to feel after every Parikrama show :) YOU RULE!

Would love to listen to more of ur originals. And yes... the concert at Mood I, IITB 2001 was just mind blowing. Peace and greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23 NIV says "for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". "God will give to each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil.Galatians 5:19-21 NIV"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." "Romans 2:6-9NIV. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.Matthew 13:41-42 NIV. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. " Galatians 6:7-8 NIV.However, John 3:16 says God loves us so much that he gave his only son so that we may have eternal life. " ...If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 6:23 NIV"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 10:9-10 NIV.

hey....wats happening to my favorite band???....ive been a parikrama fan since 4 1/2 yrs....somaya was reallly bad....compared to ur usual performances.....thot ull would play some more originals like TINA or BIR or RnB....or open skies instead of screwing up the same old sweet child, paradise city medlee etc.....btw Chintan did a good take on Roadhouse blues....regardless of wat the somayaites have all said bout the show being good and all, i think it wasnt up to the PArikrama standard.....n wat happened to Subir - sitting n playing(hey.... no problem man - just enquiring)...ur addition to whiskey blues was superb.......

dear sherpa and the gang, this was on the official website of the tibetan govt. in exile (www.tibet.net) and there are pictures too, thought you guys might love to read it. thanks a lot for playing in dharamsala and keep rocking.... regards ganzey tshering A Quiet Losar : This time Tibetans in Dharamsala welcomed the water sheep year with warm greetings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness gave a public audience in front of Tsuglakhang (main cathedral) in the morning of 3rd March at around 9.30 after the official and religious ceremonies were over. To add splendor and enliven the festive mood, the Delhi-based rock band Parikrama presented few songs at the congregation. They started with a new song played with Drangyen (Tibetan lute) and a shade of Tibetan tune. This new composition is dedicated to the Tibetan people. As the show progressed the chilly wind that had persisted throughout the night continued to rattle the corrugated roof above the crowd. It also carried the song around to touch every soul present. To suit the occasion, the band did something unconventional by singing only slow numbers. Most of the songs paid tribute to the spirit of peace and compassion. After the show was over, His Holiness greeted his people. He stressed on the need of practicing compassion as Buddhists and inculcating kindness and good heart. He explained the true meaning of 'Tashi Delek' which the Tibetans have used for ages to greet each other. He told that the greeting has a positive meaning, wishing for goodness and happiness for the other person. One must therefore observe good intentions and humane feeling from one's heart while uttering the two words. Since the Rock Bands had come all the way from Delhi, His Holiness conveyed his sincere gratitude for their support and praised their talents as musicians. He also thanked and wished all the other outsiders who have come to Dharamsala to celebrate the Losar as Tibet supporters. Though it was a cold windy morning, yet the ground in front of the Tsuglakhang was filled to the edge with devotees and supporters wrapped in their best festive

I first got introduced to you when you guys had come to my college's cultural festival, "Horizons". Then there was "Till I was No One Again" and today I came across "But I rained."..... Ohh God, these two songs are so cute in the sense theres sucha perfect blend of classical music like tabla, sitar and at the same time, there's this lovely guitaring sequence. Seing the video of "But It Rained", was like seing a Pink Floyd pychedelic video who are my God... Thanks a lot for make 2 sweet original songs, God bless you all, Ananth.

isnt it time u guys moved on and start doing music which kicks ass in terms of what makes sense in india. i guess pink floyd are easy to start with for making band and stuff, but if you know your history, rock and roll started as a rebel music http://www.history-of-rock.com against slavery and other fuck for the present generation to rebel for, i can write a few hundred pages if u ask me whats there for the young people like us to rebel for india, but i dont want to infuse my ideas, you guys are in rock and roll already, probably u guys know even better! but really atleast .. isnt it really fucking time we moved away from salman fucking khan wedding dances!!!!! REAL FUCKED UP SHIT if u guys believe in freedom of speech human rights and are intelligent enough which i believe u guys are, go ahead and make something rebellious instead of making pussy music like but it rained. i guess thats a good song, but come on guys move on!!!!!!!! u can ask me what the fuck am i screaming for sitting here in the USA, and trying to forget about my own country!!!! i am not... i am just getting on the road and its not an easy one to take!!! thinking of running away to frisco for a while meet some cooler people before returing to india.. Sad thing in america, there are lot of people open minded believe in world peace and about freedom of speech, but their voice is never heard.. which they are fighting for... so i dont want to really blame america as a whole... its this whole world fucking system is screwed up!!!! also, if u ask any american what do u know about indian music, they are gonna say ravishankar or like the classical music... like who the fuck asked ravishankar and hare krishna to represent india... it was heartbreaking to see that many think ravishankar as the guy who was repsonsible for the beatles break up.. not sure whats the story behind that.. hes just a fucking classical artist not a youngster with rage in the blood... do we look up to the westerners as representatives from the pope or some fucked up whatever... or look up to kenny rogers as their musician!!! i am not making fun of these people .. its just that they wont apply.... as youngsters we like bands which kick ass like nirvana rage against the machine soundgarden gnr collective soul dave mathews band stone temple pilots rhcp radiohead rem ... this can go on and on and end in pink floyd supertramp beatles doors jimi hendrix and can go all the way to sly and the family stone bob dylan byrds supremes credence clearwater revival janis joplin grateful dead jefferson starship ten years later ...this is not going to end so i will end this list here.. there was once a revolution in the 60s against a lot of stupid things humans are doing... the world has almost forgotten that.. many people like indians dont even know anything like that ever happened. its good to see you all doing it for aids awareness.. but i feel there can be more done... and its up to some rebelling youngsters like all of you and people like me to get up stand up and fight for your FUCKING RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! long live the spirit of rock and roll and save us youngsters from this mad world.

Chaos-2003 at IIM, Ahmedabad ---------------------------- For the first time I had a chance to attend a LIVE rock concert. And believe me for a budding drummer like me, this was a great source of inspiration. Your performance was superb, extraordinary, mind blowing, entertaining, etc., etc., etc. And I really THANK YOU for that. Dilip's Drumming was extra-ordinary, the basist looks extremely cool and plays cool as well, Nitin's vocals sounds cooool, i have no words for Sherpa (Great will do for now), Subir played superb and last but not the least the violin and tabla guys were really mind boggling, the effect, aura and an extraordinary blend of fusion which was created with drums and guitars was extraordinary. Too sad we could not hear more of the violin. Anyway thanks once again. See you more often in Ahmedabad. And I am proud that we too have such QUALITY rock bands in INDIA. CONGRATULATIONS for getting the Cricket World Cup Official song. with best regards, Kshitij Raval Drummer, Crossfade

Even though Metallica/RATM dont exist at your concerts - the AC/DC you play sure makes up for it. Hi Parikrama, U were at IIt Kharagpur on 22 Jan 2003. I loved the performance. Was Really rocking and i have a friend who has become a rock fan after ur performance. Keep it up and I hope to listen to u live again, somewhere, sometime, but for sure. One more thing, The vocals were really clear and strong unlike some other groups where the music is so loud, the vocals just get drowned. And i have NO words to describe the violin and tabla saurabh

hi guys...today was the second performance i saw...first in NASA convention in 1998 at SAP Chennai...and now at IIT Kharagpur...so i can compare the 2...frankly speaking i liked the Chennai performance more...i was a bit disappointed since the show was only for 2 hours...when i just got warmed up for rock...the show was over...i expected at least 4 solid hours of rock...anyway i liked the fireworks at the end...and that violin performance was too brilliant...all the best for future performance...can u plzz tell me where u r staying in IIT Kharagpur...i wanna meet u...especially Sonam personally...u rem my friend FARAZ from Aligarh Muslim University...he introduced Sonam to me at SAP Chennai in 1998...all the best for your future performances

Even though I dont know much about your songs, I do admire the soul in "But it rained"- a smooth melody rock.. I heared it in "Great indirock" cassette 4 the first time and I jst became a great fan of U people. Good sort of work , Keep bringing out melodies like this rather pure rock! Thanx my friends, and HAPPY NEWYEAR 2003. Bye..

I enjoyed your website, and I like your music. Where can I buy it? Any chance Parikrama might play a few dates in the US in 2003? There are many international music fests, as well as rock fests here. I think you would find an audience that is open to the new and different. Here, only radio and big record companies suck. People always want something new. That's how I found you!
